“This British art deco sideboard is such an incredible and unique design – we always called it "The Jukebox" – but as a piece of scuffed brown veneered furniture, it was in danger of being thrown out of the house. I always meant to have it finished in some way, thinking of a high-gloss in black or dark coral like those Chinese lacquerware pieces, but I never got round to it. Anyway, when we moved my wife gave it an ultimatum: shape up or ship out.
I knew it would be a difficult project and it took a long time to find anyone adventurous or skilled enough to even take it on. Finally someone recommended Chris and thankfully he was able to share my vision for it and told me how he'd approach the task.
Before it could be painted, it needed all its surfaces stabilising, then filling and priming, and given the intricate curves, this was a nightmare in itself. Chris persevered with it, filling and sanding, filling and sanding, many many times until he was satisfied with the smoothness. He gave me progress reports and halfway through the job I told him that he didn't have to be an absolute perfectionist on my behalf – we would be happy with a halfway decent job. But Chris insisted on absolute perfection and as you can see, the results were completely worth it. He took our Jukebox the extra mile to get a finish he was happy with. In fact, by the time he had finally delievered it, he'd given it a new name: "The Beast."
Hats off Chris, you made a knackered old sideboard into a one-of-a-kind conversation piece. It has pride of place in our house and the money we spent, and the time you took, were absolutely worth it.”

furniture is currently not ‘popular’ and is often discarded to the tip.
Here is a prime example of how such a piece can have new life crafted into it.
