‘Wilson’

An exquisitely refinished mid-century sideboard, dating from the early 1960s, and designed by E.Gomme for G-Plan, this piece is constructed of Tola - a rich, warm, brown African wood - trimmed with dramatic black legs, solid brass handles and feet.

Expertly restored to a condition that closely resembles a brand new piece of furniture, the sideboard’s design is inspired by Danish furniture of the era, with a simple aesthetic fused with superior construction and attractive materials.  Finished with a clear, hardwearing wax-oil that offers excellent protection, the brass fittings have also been stripped, polished, and re-lacquered for ongoing protection, whilst the legs have been stripped and re-sprayed in striking black gloss enamel paint with a smooth finish.

Twin concertina doors reveal sizeable decoupaged cabinets, finished in Christian Lacroix-designed ‘Picassiette’ lining paper, with mirrored bases, solid walnut trim, and thick safety-glazed shelves (full-depth to the left cabinet, half-depth to the right) with polished edges, mounted on brass insert supports. Multifunctional, rechargeable, LED lights provide illumination to each cabinet space, fitted via discreet magnetic clasps.

The bank of three, generously sized drawers are lined with sumptuous black velvet, with the top drawer featuring solid timber dividers.
