‘Arta’

Bridging the gap between Scandinavian minimalism and traditional British cabinet design, the Nathan range of lounge furniture from the late 1960’s and 1970’s is heralded for its timeless design coupled with excellent construction and use of quality materials. The Nathan ‘Squares’ sideboard is a perfect example; a sizeable piece of storage furniture boasting framed teak-veneered door facades and solid teak detailing, with shelved cabinets, drop-down cocktail cabinet with Formica serving surface, solid wood drawers and attractive brass hoop handles.

This version has been expertly restored to an exquisite finish, stripped, repaired and re-profiled throughout, with a bold abstract motif applied to the doors in hardwearing tinted polyx-oils with hand-painted brass enamel pin-striping. Each framed panel is in and of itself an individual artwork that combine to form a panoramic piece of art. Internally, each cabinet section has been carefully lined in dark blue/teal leatherette offering a smart contrast to the exterior, with each cabinet base lined with glazing for protection. The contrasting solid timber shelves are retained, stripped and cleaned and refitted, whilst the original pure white Formica serving surface to the inside of the drop-down door provides a clean, protective surface for drink preparation. An angled LED strip light is discreetly mounted above, controllable via a handheld remote control, and providing an ambient light when the cabinet is in use. The light fitting is easily removable for recharging, and features on/off/motion sensing functionality together with warm/cool light options. The handles have also been stripped, polished, sprayed and lacquered for ongoing protection.

A bank of three drawers provide ample storage above and are finished, together with the carcass and stretchered legs, in hard-wearing clear satin polyx-oil offering unparalleled ongoing protection.
